Cyprus Airways Celebrates First Larnaca to Athens Flight

Cyprus Airways touched down at Greece’s Athens International Airport for the first time on March 29. Its first flight to Athens departed from Larnaca at 15:00 and landing at 16:45.

Athens International Airport welcomed the Cypriot carrier’s aircraft with a ceremonial water cannon salute, followed by a ribbon bonding ceremony for official guests and passengers to symbolise the air link between the two countries.

The airline is initially connecting Larnaca to Athens with two flights per week, before expanding to four flights weekly from an anticipated date of June 01.

Cyprus Airways is based at Larnaka International Airport and all its flights operate on Airbus A319 aircraft which hold a capacity of 144 economy class seats.

According to the airline, its long-term goal is to contribute to the increase of tourism on the island of Cyprus, while at the same time broadening the horizons for local travellers with its growing route network.
