Larnaca Undergoing Major Upgrades

30 major projects due to either begin or be completed this year are set to significantly upgrade Larnaca’s infrastructure, accessibility and facilities, announced Larnaka Tourism Board.

The region’s municipal gardens and municipal market are being rebuilt, while multipurpose venues for sports and arts are being created. Additionally, the public tennis courts are having to be moved for excavations to take place at the ancient Port of Kition.

Lefkara is expected to spruce up its main square and build a multipurpose conference centre. Athienou is also creating a multipurpose centre, and an Archangelos Church excursion area. Livadia has flood channel landscaping and floodlit basketball, tennis and volleyball courts planned.

Tochni is earmarked for a community park with a children’s sporting field, café and playground. Voroklini is extending its coastal path and upgrading Yannathes beach with outdoor gym machinery and children’s playgrounds. Pyla is refreshing its beach facilities and creating pedestrian and cycling paths.

Zygi will showcase its marine history with a Sea and Fishing Museum. It is also opening a park and obtaining Blue Flag recognition for its fishing shelter beach. Kiti has restored its Folkloric Museum, while Pervolia is forging ahead with its pedestrian and cycling path project, the construction of six wave breakers, and an open-air stage.
