Volunteers Embracing Let’s Do It! Cyprus

Just over a month ahead of this year’s Let’s Do It! Cyprus environmental clean-up event, 27,000 volunteers have already signed up for the April 23 – 29 gathering.

According to official announcement, the organiser expressed optimism that 40,000 people would register as volunteers by the time the event begins.

Let’s Do It! Cyprus is coordinated by Commissioner for the Environment, Cyprus, Ionna Panayiotou, and Together Cyprus volunteering network.

The week’s series of events will culminate with an April 29 clean-up around Cyprus, officially beginning at 10:00 outside 13 Holy Martyrs Chapel, Linear Park behind the Presidential Palace, Nicosia.

Let’s Do It! World is a civic-led mass movement that began with the Estonia 2008 event when 50,000 people united together to clean-up the entire country after just five hours.

Since then, Let’s Do It! has spread this one country, one day model around the world. To date, nearly 120 countries and 20 million people have participated, the initiative’s website writes.
