7,000 Austrian Tourists to Visit Cyprus

With the help of Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO), approximately 7,000 Austrian Pensioners Federation (PVO) members will once again visit Cyprus this year.

The current programme began at the end of March and will last until May, giving the tourists the opportunity to enjoy Cyprus during the spring season, contributing to the tourist arrivals increase outside peak months and enhancing the joint effort to address the issue of seasonality.

The PVO programme contributes actively to the promotion of Cyprus towards the Austrian market, as visitors are accompanied by local newspaper and radio journalists, as well as by a state-owned workshop.

For the 2017 programme, the total number of visitors amounted to 6,972 people, while 14,000 Austrian travellers overall are expected to visit the island during the 2017 – 2018 period.

The programme is also supported by local authorities, Hermes Airports, accommodation establishments selected to accommodate the Austrian visitors, tour guides and others.
