From May 15 — 21, archaeological and historic buildings across Cyprus will be lit in blue and purple as part of a public awareness campaign for Huntington’s Disease (HD), observed worldwide in May.

The initiative, implemented by Cyprus Department of Antiquities and Cyprus Ministry of Transport, Communications and Work, aims to increase awareness and support the newly established Huntington’s Disease Association of Cyprus which, in collaboration with the Cyprus Institute of Neurology & Genetics, support individuals and families affected by the disease.

HD is an inherited progressive neurodegenerative disorder that leads to physical, emotional and cognitive dysfunction.

With this participation, Cyprus Department of Antiquities aims to highlight the significance of cultural heritage in constructing a healthier and more humanistic present.
