Ayia Napa celebrated the Epiphany on January 06, organised by the municipality and the Holy Metropolis of Constantia, Famagusta.

A church service was carried out at Panagia Church, Ayia Napa and was followed with a sanctification of the waters by the Metropolitan of Constantia, Famagusta, Vasilios, where 40 swimmers fell into the icy waters of Ayia Napa port in order to pull out the Holy cross.

The first swimmer who found the Holy cross was awarded by Yiannis Karousos, mayor, Ayia Napa, the High Metropolitan of Constantia, Famagusta, and the city council with a golden cross, while the rest of the swimmers were awarded with a silver cross.

The celebration was attended by Christoforos Fokaidis, minister, defence, Cyprus, where he expressed his wishes for the island’s freedom and reunion.
